I’ve been interested in Buddhism since high school (mid1980s). Thich Nhat Hanh, zen flesh zen bones, Gary Snyder, and Beginner’s Mind from the local library. My interest grew from there. So mainly Mahayana. I didn’t think the tradition of Buddhism should matter as a “convert.” I have mainly learned about Mahayana and Vajrayana for most of my life.
The pandemic sparked a new deep dive into learning and practice. “Tibetan Book of the dead” and everything Thich Nhat Hanh. It was in looking deeper into Thich Nhat Hanh’s source materials that got me into Theravada.
I hope you find something helpful in this look at Zen through a Theravada lense.
